Terms & Conditions

By creating an account or using the Places application, you declare that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Who we are

Byte Unit SRL, headquartered in Romania, is the operator of the Places service (“the Service”, “the Platform”).

2. Eligibility

The Service is intended for persons who are at least 16 years old. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 16.
If you are between 13 and 15 years old, the consent of your parents or legal guardians is required, in accordance with GDPR and Law no. 190/2018.

3. Creating and managing your account

To use the main features of the Platform, you must create an account.
You can complete your profile manually, or you may choose to import certain data from social networks (e.g., name, age, gender and, if available, phone number), only with your consent. Some fields are optional (e.g., relationship status, occupation, personality, description, photos).
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all actions taken through your account. Please notify us immediately in case of unauthorized access.
From within the app, you can manage the visibility of your profile and certain fields (e.g., email/phone/public profile). You can also block friend requests, notifications from people nearby, or notifications about new events.

4. Privacy and personal data protection

Places processes your personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
Certain processing activities are based on:
- performance of the contract (creating/managing your account),
- legitimate interest (security and abuse prevention), or
- your consent (marketing, location, importing from social networks, publishing photos).
You can withdraw your consents at any time from Settings.
Photosensitivity/epilepsy information is optional and is processed only on the basis of your explicit consent, in order to filter strobe/flashing content.

5. Content on the Platform

5.1 User-generated content

You may publish descriptions, photos and other materials (“Content”). You must hold the necessary rights and you must not violate the law or the rights of others.
By publishing, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license, revocable upon deletion, to display and distribute the Content within the Service.

5.2 Prohibited content

You must not post:
- illegal, defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, fraudulent content, or content that incites hate/violence;
- content infringing copyright, trademarks or other rights;
- spam, scraping, technical exploits, or attempts to compromise the Platform’s security.
Places may moderate, restrict or suspend access to accounts in case of breaches of these Terms.

6. Events and tickets

Places displays events, venues, and activities. For some events, tickets may be sold directly in the Platform, and for others you will be redirected to external platforms for payment.

6.1 Tickets sold directly via Places

Transactions are processed by our payment partners. Confirmations, refunds (where applicable), and support are managed by Places, according to the policies displayed at the time of purchase.

6.2 External payment links (disclaimer)

For events paid on third-party websites, transactions are handled exclusively by those providers under their own terms and policies.
Places does not guarantee and is not responsible for:
- the operation of those services,
- payment security,
- availability or any modification/cancellation of events,
- or any damages resulting from using external platforms.
We encourage you to review the terms and policies of each provider before purchasing.

7. Payments, fees and refunds

Prices and fees are shown before completing an order. To the extent permitted by law, fees may include processing commissions.
Refund policies may vary by event and are communicated at the time of purchase. For payments made on third-party sites, only those providers’ policies apply.

8. Security and fair use

You may not use the Service in a way that affects its security, availability, or performance (e.g., attempts at unauthorized access, abusive automated interference, unauthorized reverse engineering).
We may implement technical protection and limitation measures.

9. Intellectual property rights

The Platform, design, databases, trademarks and all original materials are protected by applicable law.
You may not copy, distribute, or reuse elements of the Service without prior written permission.

10. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, Places is not liable for indirect, special, or consequential losses, loss of opportunity, profit or data, or temporary unavailability of the Service.

11. Changes to the Terms

We may periodically update these Terms. The current version is published in the app and applies from the date it is displayed.
If changes significantly affect your rights or obligations, we will notify you through reasonable means.

12. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time from Settings.
We may suspend or close accounts that violate the law or these Terms, or that create risks for other users or for the Platform.

13. Applicable law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by Romanian law and applicable EU legislation.
Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts in Romania. You have the right to contact:
- the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) for consumer disputes, and
- the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP) for data protection matters.
